2005 Hurricane Rita.
I was going through some pictures and found some additional pictures of the aftermath of Hurricane Rita. These pictures were taken within a week of the storm.
Who could these people be?
Blast from the Past – Hurricane Rita
I was going through my disks and came across this one. It was the trip that Dick Myers, the Communications Manager at the DeRidder, LA mill, and I took down to Hackberry, LA about 4 weeks after the storm. It was the first load of privately donated items that reached this area. It was thrilling to be able to drive the truck down there then back out. Right after the first picture was taken, we had to stop at the bottom of the inter-coastal waterway bridge at a road block. We had to state our business which was radioed over the staging area where we were headed.
The water from the Gulf was all the way past the bridge that we were stopped at. That is over 15 miles inland. One of the officers told us that two sharks had been found in the area after the water went down. If you want to see more pictures let me know. This is only 22. I think there is another 10 or so pictures.
It is sad to think that my time with Boise is coming to an end. It has been a very good experience and one that I am not ready to be finished with.
On a better note, the little Ava is doing alot better. Mother is also feeling alot better. We really appreciate everyones love and support.
